Meeting in Zytomyr

On February 23, 2020, two lectures were delivered by the Vice-President of the Kyiv Branch of the ANKH Mykola Shcherbin in Zhytomyr at the Oblast Universal Scientific Library named after Olzhich. 

 The first of these, "Ancient Greece as the Cradle of Western Civilization", seemed to plunge readers into the world of medieval Europe and the ancient times of Ancient Greece.  The lecturer presented the audience with an interesting look at the way of preservation and transmission of Divine Wisdom, the Secret Doctrine, which was transmitted through the system of Mysteries of Ancient Greece.  They touched upon ancient history and mythology, culture and art.  Myth has been regarded as a symbol that has so far inspired artists to express the ideas of Divine Wisdom by creating paintings, writing music, poems, and stories.  Orpheus, Pythagoras, the Eleusinian and Orphic Mysteries, the Orphic hymns - all of this sounds like today in our world.

  The lecturer presented to the students the idea of ​​developing the thinking of mankind in the process of involutionary and evolutionary periods of his life.

  For members of Zhytomyr Theosophical Branch a lecture "Alchemy as the Art of Internal Transformation" was read.  This is another unusual view that describes the HPB in their work.  It was about the History of Alchemy and the eminent alchemists of medieval Europe, who passed on to the generations to come the symbols of the process of internal transformation of man.  Some alchemical symbols were considered and to some extent deciphered.  All listeners also touched upon the alchemical interpretation of the Voice of Silence of the HPB and the Three Purposes of the Theosophical Society.
