Immediately after the bomb attack on a residential building in the city of Dnipro on January 14, we learned that the International Charity Organization SOS "Children's Villages" is going to help the affected families with children. We transferred to this organization a targeted aid of 2 thousand dollars received from our American partners TOS. We have already cooperated with this ICO before and had trust. Now they have decided on the recipients of aid and the aid itself, so we can also report.
Two families were selected for assistance.
1) On January 14, 2023, during an airstrike in the city of Dnipro, Myroslava, born in 2013, was on the street, her grandmother went to bring packages home. The girl's mother was at work. The explosion was unexpected. A neighbor found an unconscious girl on the street. There was no communication, so they couldn't call an ambulance, but the woman was not lost, she and her husband quickly carried the girl to their car, which was standing in the yard already battered by debris, and urgently transported her to the hospital.
Myroslava had a landmine-explosive injury, a brain concussion, two hip fractures, and a shrapnel injury to her right lower leg. The girl underwent several operations. Currently, treatment is ongoing. Myroslava and her mother are in the hospital, the girl is awaiting long-term treatment and a period of rehabilitation.
Immediately after the incident, the family was given cash assistance in the amount of 10,000, winter clothes/shoes and a mobile phone were purchased for sessions with a psychologist. In the future, it is planned to provide assistance in the form of a laptop so that the girl can study online at school, as well as purchase the necessary medical drugs.
2) On January 14, 2023, during a missile strike in Dnipro, Anastasia, born in 2011, was injured. The family lived on the fourth floor of a building destroyed by a Russian rocket. They survived only by a miracle. The girl's mother said that after the man took her and her daughter to the hospital and returned home, the only thing he took from the destroyed apartment was the injured child's favorite toy. In the hospital, Anastasia was immediately provided with medical assistance and underwent an operation. Diagnosis: mine-explosive injury, open craniocerebral injury, brain concussion. Now Anastasia's health is good, a large scar on her forehead reminds of the accident. A psychologist works with the girl. Anastasia studies at school.
Currently, due to the fact that the family's home was destroyed, they live in a rented apartment provided by volunteers. According to my mother, they promised to repair their own home at the expense of the local authorities, and the first repair works are already underway.
Immediately after the incident, the family was given cash assistance in the amount of UAH 10,000, as well as cash assistance for the purchase of winter clothes and shoes. In the future, at the expense of donor funds, it is planned to purchase a laptop for Anastasia to ensure quality access to education and online learning.
We are sincerely grateful to everyone for helping these two families and wish the girls a speedy recovery, recovery, becoming courageous, strong, kind. Maybe someday they will have the opportunity to give a piece of their heart and the warmth of their caring hands to those in need.
